Children's Theatre Festival
With two shows each summer, the Children’s Theatre Festival presents classic storybook tales and world premiere musicals. Each summer thousands of families enjoy live, wholesome theatre; many for the first time. It’s the perfect activity for young and old!
Recent premieres have included the musicals The Princess Who Could Not Be Heard, Danny and the Dragon, The New Adventures of Pinocchio, The Land of Broken Toys, and Brandon Finds His Star written by Broadway composer/lyricist, Jerry Bock and UH faculty member Sidney Berger.
- Sleeping Beauty June 11 - 20, 2008
The classic tale of a lovely Princess who has an evil spell cast on her by a nasty witch. She is awakened from the spell by a brave and handsome Prince who overcomes many obstacles to save her. Having found the love of his life, the Prince weds the Princess. - The Sunday matinee is June 15 at 2pm.
- The Emperor's New Clothes July 8 - 18, 2008
An original musical based on the timeless tale of a naive Emperor who is spell-bound by an adventurous visitor who promises to create a breathtaking new wardrobe to be worn at a special ball. The only problem is that the garments are wholly imaginary, and the innocent Emperor is convinced that they are real.
The Sunday matinee is July 13 at 2pm.
